T for ........?????

I was studying in class 5 or 6. Me and mom were going to the tuition by a rickshaw. There was a temple of Lord Shani Dev near the tuition. At that time i didn't know about this temple.

Just as the rickshaw was heading towards the temple, mom suddenly told me,"Rima, right side e dekho,Shani Dev er mandir, pronaam koro." ("Rima, on your right side there's a temple of God Shani Dev, do pray")
I asked looking at the sky "Where?Where?"

Since childhood I have a direction problem. If someone tells me to look at the right side, I will look at the left side or at the top but never in the right direction. Even now, when every morning i go with my dad to practice driving, if he tells me "Shamne theke amra ba dike jabo" ("From here we will turn left") , I will instantly rotate my steering wheel to the right with an attitude as if i know everything, and then receive good comments from my dad like "Gadha" "Shopno dekhchile?"

Anyways. So then my mother pointed to the right "There".
Very obediently I joined my hands and prayed quickly (before the temple passes)

After praying mom told me, "The temple is so beautiful, built with white marbles..."

"What are you talking about? The temple is so dirty. Dirty red walls, yuck ....with weird posters and moreover it was so small. I have never seen such a temple."

My mom stared at me for sometime and then shouted "Hey bhogobaan, amay tule nao" ("Oh God, please take me")

"What happened mom? Why r u behaving like this"?

"U stupid. When will u have sense? U didn't pray at the Temple, u just prayed at the Toilet. It was a toilet, you idiot, with dirty red walls and weird posters."

Growing Up

This is my first blog.
I have seen many of my friends' blogs, their writings are as good as any  professional writer. But honestly,my writing sucks. In my school days, I have never got good marks in essay writing : "Horrible English", "Need to improve", "Your writing is not clear" were the comments I used to get from my teachers.I am 21 now.Dunno whether my writing has improved or not.But still, boosted up my confidence by convincing myself  with 3 words -"anyone can write". So I am here to share some funniest incidents of my childhood, that my family discuss almost every night at the dinner table and make fun of me.

"How are you?"

Perhaps that incident took place when I was studying in class 1 or 2. My uncle called me.I picked up the phone.
"hello"
"hello Rima.how are you?"
"ohh Kaku(uncle).Yes im fine"
Uncle :"Is everyone ok dear? How's ma, baba and didi?"
I replied "They are fine too kaku"
He said "is your mom there?"
I replied, "Yes uncle, hold on a second" and then gave the phone to mom.
After talking for a while with uncle she told me " Ok dear let me teach you something.Whenever someone calls u, whom u know, like for example just now your kaku called, then one day your kakima(aunty)  will call u, your cousin brother will call u, that means i am talking about any relatives, when they call u, you should always ask one question to them"

She paused for a moment as if waiting for my question. I asked "What question mom?"
She replied, "You ask them, how are u uncle, is everyone well at home?"
I replied very obediently as if wanting to get a kiss from her "Ok mom, I understood"
As expected, she understood what i wanted, kissed me and said "Good girl"

In the evening dad called from office.Mom was cooking maggi for me so i picked up.
"Hello?"
"Hello shona. Is your mom there?its urgent"
I am a very obedient girl.Whenever someone teaches me anything i try to follow it.
I paused for a moment.
I asked, " Hello baba? tumi kamon acho? Office e shobai kamon ache?"("How are you Baba? Is everyone ok at your office ?")

After asking, felt very proud of myself for two reasons. First of all, I remembered what mom taught me. Secondly, I didn't ask Dad "How is everyone at home?" But instead I asked him "How is everyone at OFFICE?".Oh my god!!! couldn't believe my brain worked so well.
But on the other side of the phone it was pin drop silence.
"Hello?Hello Baba?r u there?"
My dad burst out laughing and said "I am very well, dear and everyone in my office are also well. Don't have to worry so much my little princess."
He was laughing so hard that he could hardly speak.I thought, Dad is so proud of me.He's so happy. He is surely thinking "My daughter has grown up".
"Now give the phone to your mom, dear"
Mom picked the phone.I heard her saying "ok then what happened?"
Then after listening for some time she also started laughing. Oh my god.My parents are so happy for such a little thing that I have done. They are so proud of me. Surely mom will kiss me after talking to Dad.
After disconnecting the phone she turned to me laughing.
"Oh my baby! I told you to ask the question to your relatives, to those whom you can't meet everyday, to those whom you can't take care of everyday."
I replied sadly, thinking that I have lost the chance of getting an affectionate kiss from her "ok mom.But Baba is also my relative. In fact he is my closest relative. He is my father...."

"oh my dear. Don't stress yourself so much. When u grow up u will understand" and then kissed me with a smile.
But I was not happy because I got the kiss not for my intelligence but for my stupidity.
